Our Approach

The new United Technologies Digital website is a great example of the type of digital experiences that result from our approach. We began with a focus on the users of our website and their needs. We then defined the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that would get us launched quickly with the most essential content and functionality; in fact, we designed, developed and launched this site in weeks, not months. Over the coming weeks, based on your feedback, we'll be evolving this site experience further to better meet your needs.

User-Centric Design

We start by uncovering what our users—suppliers, customers, consumers—need or will need. By designing for real needs, we build loyalty and streamline the development effort.

Minimum Viable Products (MVPs)

We release new offerings as Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). MVPs include only essential features and functionality. This approach accelerates time-to-market and helps us determine if our core assumptions are true.

Test, Learn, Iterate

After we release a product or service MVP to users, we seek to continuously optimize based on feedback and analytics. The process of iteration continues for the duration of the product or service lifecycle.

United Technologies Digital Competencies

United Technologies Digital's breadth of competencies enables our team to set visions for data-driven products and services and bring them to market quickly and securely. We also partner to optimize the performance of the existing enterprise systems that power the UTC workforce.

  • Rapidly releasing excellent products to market requires a lean and disciplined way of working. Our Product Managers help drive our teams forward, from the release of the initial MVP (Minimum Viable Product) through continuous optimization of the product once it's in market.

  • We're staunch advocates of a user-centered approach to designing digital products and services. Our User Experience Design team undertakes focused in-field research to uncover insights about customer needs and behaviors, then works within the UTC Design System (UDS) to create world-class digital solutions that are always recognizably UTC.

  • Our strengths in user-centric design are matched by our prowess in software development. Our software development team is fluent in all best-in-class technologies; additionally, their working style is flexible with a bias for agile development.

  • Our Business Systems team boasts deep expertise in all of UTC's enterprise systems and critical business processes. They partner to extend current systems, making them more responsive, enhancing performance, improving productivity, and driving efficiency.

  • Data and analytics are the lifeblood of the intelligent solutions that United Technologies Digital brings to market. Our Data Science & Analytics team derive insights from performance data and usage analytics to power products that enable predictive maintenance, remote diagnostics, and performance & operations optimization for our customers.

  • United Technologies is a trusted and proven provider of mission critical assets for government and some of the world's largest firms. As our products and their supporting digital services become increasingly data-driven and intelligent, our Security and Risk Management team remains focused on protecting our intellectual property and delivering the highest levels of security in our products and services.

  • Providing value to our customers depends on the productivity and efficiency of our internal UTC teams. Our Infrastructure Services team provides the foundational capabilities to support the digital world of Big Data and the Internet of Things.
